Both hand and machine films can be pre-stretched. This type of film is called Pre-Stretch film. It is created by pre-stretching the stretch film to a specific thickness. Pre-stretch film is widely used in Europe.

Using this type of film offers several advantages over standard packaging film:

• due to the pre-stretching, film consumption during cargo wrapping is reduced, resulting in lower packaging costs per unit;
• even minimal stretching of Pre-Stretch film provides greater load stability during transport;
• less effort is required for manual stretching of the film;
• during the stretching process, the thickness of Pre-stretch film is reduced while maintaining its strength and load fixation levels.
